Shimano Crankset Litigation Settlement
Reimbursement of reasonable out-of-pocket costs for purchasing and installing a replacement crankset, if applicable; otherwise automatic extended warranty coverage
What happened
Shimano voluntarily recalled Hollowtech II cranksets manufactured before July 2019 due to concerns about bonding separation and delamination that could cause breakage. Plaintiffs alleged breaches of warranties and inadequacy of the recall, seeking relief related to product advertising and marketing. The defendants deny any physical injuries resulted from the cranksets.
Do you qualify?
Anyone who purchased, received, was given, or owned a Designated Shimano crankset (specific Ultegra and Dura-Ace models with specific production codes manufactured before July 2019) in the United States, or a bicycle equipped with such a crankset, other than solely for resale purposes.
How to file
To receive reimbursement, submit a Claim Form with supporting documentation to the Settlement Administrator by August 4, 2026. Documentation must prove you replaced a defective Designated Crankset before September 21, 2023, while the Express Warranty was still in effect, and show reasonable out-of-pocket costs. You do not need to submit a form to receive the automatic extended warranty through July 29, 2027.
