Liquid Aluminum Sulfate Antitrust Settlement

Major manufacturers of liquid aluminum sulfate (Alum) allegedly engaged in a price-fixing conspiracy from 1997 through at least February 2011 to artificially inflate the price of this chemical used in municipal water treatment. Municipalities and their taxpayers overpaid millions of dollars as a result. The defendants have settled the class action litigation with final court approval granted.
