What happened
CenterEdge Software supplied point-of-sale systems with fingerprint scanners to Illinois businesses, including trampoline parks. The lawsuit alleges CenterEdge violated Illinois biometric privacy law (BIPA) by collecting and possessing fingerprint data from employees without providing required disclosures and obtaining written consent. CenterEdge denies any violation; the court has not decided the merits.
Do you qualify?
The settlement covers two groups: (1) employees already identified by employers as having scanned a fingerprint into a CenterEdge system in Illinois between April 29, 2014 and March 20, 2024 (no claim form needed); and (2) people who worked at Sky Zone Trampoline Parks in Elmhurst, Aurora, or Joliet, Illinois and scanned their fingerprint there during that period (claim form required).
How to file
Group 1 members do not need to file anything and will automatically receive payment. Group 2 members must submit a Claim Form (online or by mail) by June 24, 2024, verifying they worked at a specified Sky Zone location and scanned their fingerprint there. You will need your Claimant ID from the notice you received.
