What happened
Peterson Oil allegedly blended elevated levels of biodiesel into heating oil, which did not meet industry standards, was less efficient than standard heating oil with fewer BTUs, required equipment adjustments, caused heating systems to shut down, and caused long-term damage to heating equipment. Defendants deny all allegations.
Do you qualify?
Anyone who purchased heating fuel from Peterson Oil (also doing business as Cleghorn Oil or Cape Discount Fuel) between January 1, 2012 and November 12, 2025, or anyone who owns heating equipment that came into contact with, stored, or used such fuel during that period, including homeowners who purchased homes previously receiving Peterson Oil and landlords with heating equipment.

Submit a claim form online at www.PetersonOilClassActionSettlement.com or by mail (request by calling 1-844-625-7313) postmarked by February 11, 2026. For no-heat incidents, you may claim up to $180 per incident with just verification of dates under oath, or submit documentation for costs exceeding $500. Pro rata payments are automatic for most class members based on fuel gallons purchased.
