What happened

State Farm Fire and Casualty Company allegedly failed to pay or paid inadequately for diminished value losses to insured vehicles that suffered structural damage but were repaired under uninsured motorist property damage (UMPD) coverage. Diminished value is the loss in a vehicle's market value after repairs to structural damage. State Farm denies any wrongdoing and contends it paid appropriate amounts for diminished value as part of its normal claim adjustment process.
