Simpson Strong-Tie Data Incident Settlement

What happened

A cyber-attack on Simpson Strong-Tie beginning on or around October 9, 2023, resulted in an unknown actor gaining access to the company's systems and downloading certain files containing personal identifiable information of current and former Simpson Strong-Tie employees. Simpson Strong-Tie denies all claims and charges of wrongdoing but has agreed to the settlement to avoid the costs and risks of continuing the case.

Do you qualify?

Any individual residing in the United States to whom Simpson Strong-Tie or its authorized representative sent a notice of a data security incident discovered on or about October 10, 2023, in connection with the data breach.

What you can claim

• Expense and Lost-Time Reimbursement

  $500 each

  Class members can be reimbursed for out-of-pocket ordinary losses incurred as a direct result of the Data Security Incident, including bank fees, phone charges, postage, gasoline, and credit report fees, up to $500 per class member. Additionally, members can receive compensation for lost time spent remedying issues at $20 per hour for up to 4 hours without requiring supporting documentation.

• Extraordinary Expense Reimbursement

  $5,000 each

  Class members who were victims of actual documented identity theft can be reimbursed for documented monetary out-of-pocket losses directly arising from identity theft perpetrated on them as a result of the Data Incident, up to $5,000 per claim with only one claim allowed per class member.

• Credit Monitoring Services

  Class members are eligible to receive two years of three-bureau identity-theft protection and credit monitoring, including credit monitoring alerts, identity restoration and recovery services, and identity theft insurance for up to $1,000,000 in losses with no deductible.

• Data Security Enhancements

  Simpson Strong-Tie will implement reasonable steps to enhance the security of its data network, including deploying a Data Security Posture Management System, Zero Trust Endpoint Detection Security application, and enhanced phishing awareness training.

All individuals residing in the United States to whom Defendant or its authorized representative sent notice of a Data Security Incident discovered on or about October 10, 2023.

How to file

Submit a valid and timely Claim Form either online through the settlement website or by downloading and mailing it to the Claims Administrator, or call/email the Claims Administrator for a paper copy. The claim deadline is February 19, 2026.
