Tempel Steel Data Breach Settlement

What happened

Tempel Steel Company was the victim of a targeted cyberattack in February 2025 in which certain files containing personal information were potentially accessed, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, dates of birth, health insurance information, health information, driver's license numbers, state-issued identification card numbers, and financial account information. Tempel Steel denies wrongdoing, and this settlement was reached to avoid the costs and risks of continuing the litigation.

Do you qualify?

Anyone whose personal information was in files potentially accessed by the cyberattack on Tempel Steel's computer systems in February 2025. Eligible individuals are those who received notice from the Settlement Administrator indicating they are a Class Member.

What you can claim

• Ordinary Expenses Reimbursement

  $1,000 each

  Class Members who incurred actual, documented out-of-pocket expenses due to the Security Incident between February 6, 2025, and April 6, 2026, can be reimbursed for expenses like credit report fees, ID replacement costs, and postage to contact banks.

• Compensation for Lost Time

  $80 each

  Class Members who spent time responding to the Security Incident may claim compensation at $20.00 per hour for up to four hours, for tasks such as changing passwords, investigating suspicious activity, or researching the Security Incident.

• Extraordinary Expenses for Identity Theft or Fraud

  $4,000 each

  Class Members who lost money because of identity theft or fraud probably caused by the Security Incident, and who tried to prevent the loss or recover funds, can be reimbursed up to $4,000.00 for losses occurring between February 6, 2025, and April 6, 2026.

• Alternative Cash Payment

  $25 each

  Class Members may claim a one-time $25.00 payment instead of pursuing other cash payment options, without needing to provide any proof or explanation.

Who is in the class

All individuals residing in the United States whose Personal Information was potentially compromised in the February 2025 Security Incident affecting Defendant, including all those individuals who received notice of the Security Incident.

How to file

Submit a valid Claim Form by April 6, 2026. You can submit it online at the settlement website, download and mail it to the Settlement Administrator, or call/email the Settlement Administrator to request a paper copy.
