What happened
Volkswagen and Audi vehicles allegedly had defective turbochargers prone to premature failure due to wastegate issues. Volkswagen denies the claims and maintains the turbochargers are not defective and function properly, but agreed to settle the case.

Current or past owners or lessees of certain Volkswagen/Audi vehicles (2008-2024 model years, depending on the model) distributed in the United States or Puerto Rico. Settlement Class Vehicles are determined by specific Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs), which can be looked up in the VIN Lookup Portal.

Reimbursement for Past Paid Out-of-Pocket Repair Expenses
$3,850 eachAll Settlement Class Members may submit a claim for reimbursement of fifty percent (50%) or forty percent (40%) of paid invoice expenses for a turbocharger repair or replacement that occurred prior to September 15, 2025 within 8.5 years or 85,000 miles from the vehicle's In-Service Date, depending on the cause and documentation provided.

How to file
The claim deadline has passed (November 29, 2025). Claims required submission of a completed Claim Form with supporting documentation including repair invoices, declarations under penalty of perjury regarding engine modifications and warranty attempts, and maintenance records, either online or by first-class mail to the Settlement Claim Administrator.
