What happened
Hyundai and Kia vehicles allegedly had defective engines that were prone to fires and failure. The manufacturers have agreed to settle claims related to these engine defects through this class action settlement.

Loaner Vehicle or Daily Rental Reimbursement
$80 / hourDuring repairs under the Extended Warranty, class members receive a comparable loaner vehicle or up to $80 per day reimbursement for reasonable rental car expenses if no loaner is available.
Towing and Out-of-Pocket Expense Reimbursement
Class members can be reimbursed for towing or other out-of-pocket expenses reasonably related to obtaining a Qualifying Repair.
Repair Delay Goodwill Payments
Class members may seek goodwill payments for repair delays: $75 for delays lasting between 61 and 180 days, and $100 for delays of 181 days or more, with an additional $100 payment for each thirty-day period of delay after 181 days.
Qualifying Failure or Fire Away-from-Home Expense Reimbursement
Class members who experienced a Qualifying Failure or Qualifying Fire while away from home can seek reimbursement for reasonably related transportation, lodging, and meal expenses.
Early Sale or Trade-In Compensation
$150 eachClass members who experienced a Qualifying Failure or Qualifying Fire and sold or traded-in their Class Vehicles before the Notice Date can seek $150 payment plus reimbursement of the Black Book value of the vehicle minus the actual amount received.
Vehicle Destruction Compensation
$150 eachClass members whose vehicles were destroyed in a Qualifying Fire within 15 years of delivery or 150,000 miles are entitled to $150 goodwill payment plus the maximum Black Book value minus any value received for the vehicle.
Who is in the class
[A]ll owners and lessees of a Class Vehicle who purchased or leased a Class Vehicle in the United States, including those that were purchased while the owner was abroad on active U.S. military duty, but excluding those purchased in U.S. territories and/or abroad.
