What happened
The District of Columbia's Metropolitan Police Department arrested and/or prosecuted individuals for violations of the District's gun control laws outside their homes or places of business between May 15, 2012 and October 10, 2014. The government has settled by declaring all such arrests null and void and offering monetary compensation to eligible class members.
Do you qualify?
Anyone arrested and/or prosecuted by DC's Metropolitan Police Department between May 15, 2012 and October 10, 2014 (or whose prosecution started before May 15, 2012 and continued through that period) for a gun control violation, provided they had no prior felony conviction, were not convicted of a domestic violence misdemeanor in the prior five years, were not under a judicial firearms order, and were not convicted of a felony or violent misdemeanor from the arrest.
How to file
Submit a claim form by February 10, 2025 (postmarked, emailed, or filed online). The form can be submitted through the settlement website's "File a Claim" page. No additional proof is mentioned as required in the main settlement description.
