What happened
Plains All American Pipeline L.P. and Plains Pipeline L.P. allegedly caused an underground pipeline to rupture on May 19, 2015, resulting in an oil spill along the coast near Santa Barbara, California. The oil washed up onto coastal properties and beaches, causing residents to lose the use and enjoyment of their homes and damaging the fishing industry.
Do you qualify?
Fisher Class Members: persons or businesses who owned or operated a vessel as of May 19, 2015 that landed commercial seafood in specified CDFW fishing blocks between May 19, 2010 and May 19, 2015, or businesses that purchased and re-sold such seafood at retail or wholesale. Property Class Members: owners or lessees of residential beachfront property with a private beach easement where oil from the spill washed up (heavy, moderate, or light oiling).
How to file
Submit a claim form online or postmarked by October 31, 2022 (deadline has passed). The settlement is now closed and no new claims are being accepted. Claimants will receive a payment from the total settlement fund of $184 million for Fisher Class and $46 million for Property Class.
