What happened
Sky Zone, a trampoline park franchisor, required its Illinois franchisees to use fingerprint scanning technology for employees to clock in and out of work. The lawsuit alleges Sky Zone violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) through this practice. Sky Zone denies any wrongdoing, and the court did not decide whether a violation occurred.
Do you qualify?
Anyone who scanned their fingerprint at a Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Illinois between April 29, 2014 and April 23, 2024. Group 1 (already identified by employer) do not need to file a claim. Group 2 (who worked at Elmhurst, Aurora, or Joliet locations) must file a Claim Form.
How to file
Group 1 members need not file; they will receive payment automatically. Group 2 members must complete and submit a Claim Form electronically or by mail (postmarked by July 29, 2024) with their Claimant ID and verification of fingerprint scanning at an Elmhurst, Aurora, or Joliet Sky Zone location.
