JMA Energy Company allegedly underpaid royalties on gas and gas constituents from Oklahoma oil and gas wells it operated between January 1, 2015, and May 31, 2025. The defendant denies all allegations of wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the burden and expense of continued litigation.

Gas royalty underpayment/non-payment reimbursement
Class members who were royalty owners in Oklahoma wells operated by JMA Energy and received gas royalty payments during the claim period (January 1, 2015 through May 31, 2025) can claim reimbursement for underpayment or non-payment of royalties on gas and related constituents.
Who is in the class
All non-excluded persons or entities who are or were royalty owners in Oklahoma wells who received gas royalty payments from JMA Energy for the Claim Period for the Class Wells operated by JMA Energy. The Class claims relate to the correctness and adequacy of royalty payments and/or non-payments for gas and its constituents produced in any form, including, but not limited to, residue gas, casinghead gas, natural gas liquids, helium, nitrogen, drip condensate, and gas used on or off the lease premises.

How to file
The settlement has reached final approval as of June 9, 2026. Class members who did not exclude themselves will automatically receive their portion of the Net Settlement Fund based on the Allocation Methodology without needing to file a separate claim. The Net Settlement Fund is the Gross Settlement Fund of $1,808,500 minus attorneys' fees, litigation expenses, administration and notice costs, and case contribution awards.
